Oklahoma City Thunder point guard and 2017 NBA MVP led the way with an incredible 34 triple doubles in 2018-19.
Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic was a distant second with 12 triple-doubles this season. Next up are Ben Simmons (10), Luka Doncic (eight), LeBron James (eight), James Harden (seven), Elfrid Payton (six), Giannis Antetokounmpo (five), and Delon Wright (three). Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Blake Griffin, Kyle Lowry, and Evan Turner round out the top-10 with two triple-double apiece apiece.
Twenty-two players recorded one triple-double this season. That brings the total of NBA players who recorded at least one in 2018-19 to 37.
Milwaukee Bucks Hall of Fame point guard Oscar Robertson remains the all-time leader in triple-doubles with 181. Westbrook ramped up his all-time total to 138, matching that of Los Angeles Lakers legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson. He also made history by averaging a triple-double for a third consecutive season, a feat never before accomplished in the NBA.

Westbrook, 30, is in the prime of his career. He has many good years ahead of him. It shouldn't surprise anybody if he surpasses Robertson's total. LeBron and Jason Kidd are fourth and fifth all-time in triple-doubles with 107 and 81, respectively.
Doncic, the 2o-year-old Slovenian who took the NBA by storm this season, surpassed Johnson for most triple-doubles by a rookie with eight. The Mavericks star, along with Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young, is one of the favorites to win the 2019 NBA Rookie of the Year award.
The increasing number of triple-doubles comes at a time when NBA scoring has reached frenetic proportions. Fans are seeing more versatile players who don't just make the game more fun to watch, but do so employing a style that naturally increases efficiency.
Thankfully, that trend should continue in the 2019-20 NBA season and beyond.
