NBA Commissioner Adam Silver learned about Magic Johnson's resignation from the Los Angeles Lakers like everyone else: through text and TV.

During his annual end-of-season press conference, Silver touched a variety of topics, including Johnson's sudden departure from the Los Angeles front office. The 56-year-old commissioner admitted that he only heard about Magic's decision when someone texted him to tune in on NBA TV.

Magic Johnson infamously stepped down from his post as Lakers president of basketball operations during an impromptu press conference before the team's final game of the season.

The Hall of Famer pointed out that he can't be himself and felt restrained with his role with the Purple and Gold. Interestingly though, Johnson didn't inform anyone about his decision, including franchise owner Jeanie Buss and general manager Rob Pelinka.

With that said, it's no wonder why Adam Silver didn't hear about Johnson's resignation until he announced it. After all, no one really saw it coming, with both the fans and the media shocked with the sudden development.

It remains to be seen what's next for Johnson, but he is widely expected to be active around the NBA — perhaps training and mentoring Ben Simmons this summer and tweeting about milestones and achievements of his fellow NBA peers every now and then.
