The world of sports is not new to abusive individuals who take advantage of their fame and perceived power. Adam Silver had to deal with a lot of these cases during his ongoing stint as the NBA's commissioner. Recently, there have been a lot of reported cases that are undergoing as of the moment. Charles Barkley was curious about the measures the league has been taking to deal with these situations. The NBA commissioner was happy to answer and unveiled the factors that go into solving these distressing conundrums, via NBA on TNT.
“We’re addressing it. We have state-of-the-art counseling professionals dealing with our players. But of course, if a guy does cross the line, the consequences are enormous,” was the brief statement that the NBA Commissioner put out in response to Charles Barkley's question.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver currently has to deal with the cases of both Houston Rockets' Kevin Porter Jr. and Miles Bridges. The Charlotte Hornets forward was charged in court and now has to face a 30-game suspension. Porter Jr., on the other hand, has yet to face the consequences of his actions after the news broke.
Just last year, Jaxson Hayes also dealt with the same fate. He got charges in court which led to three years of probation because of two counts of domestic battery. Yet, the NBA has not given him a formal reprimand for his actions. Hayes was even allowed to sign with the Los Angeles Lakers this season even after his case hit the headlines.
