Allen Iverson has an answer for playoff contending teams approaching the Feb. 7 trade deadline – and that is Carmelo Anthony.
The Hall of Fame point guard took to Instagram on Tuesday to issue a message for organizations around the NBA in need of a roster boost.
“With all due respect, he can only make your team better,” Iverson tweeted.

Once teammates on the Denver Nuggets from 2006-2008, Iverson and Anthony were quite a pair while sharing the floor together. Iverson served as a mentor for Melo in just that short span of time, and they pushed the Nuggets above .500 each of those seasons.
Anthony was traded to the Chicago Bulls earlier this week, after a very short stint with the Houston Rockets. In 10 games for Houston, he averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds.
The 34-year-old forward likely won't see much time in Chicago, either, as the Bulls plan to waive or package his 1-year $2.3 million contract. He is also set to enter free agency in 2019, leaving rumors on the table that he could call it quits.
“No way Melo should retire, Iverson told Shams Charania of The Athletic. I definitely think he should keep going. He got a lot left in the tank, man. It’s just got to be the right situation.”
Perhaps teams should consider what A.I. is putting out there.
Iverson, himself, averaged 26.7 points per game in 14 seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, and Memphis Grizzlies. He also made 11 All-Star appearances in his career, and won NBA MVP in 2000-2001.
