Brian Scalabrine believes playing in the BIG3 would help Carmelo Anthony get back into the NBA.

Scalabrine says Anthony should look at what that the BIG3 has done for Joe Johnson, who is reportedly garnering interest from multiple NBA teams after killing it in Ice Cube's three-on-three league.

“Joe Johnson would not be in the conversation if he didn’t play in the BIG3,” Scalabrine said, via Frank Isola of The Athletic. “I want Carmelo Anthony to realize that hanging out with his trainer and playing in these bogus picks-up games is not better than playing in the BIG3.

“If Carmelo was killing the BIG3 it can help him, (but) I think these guys believe it can only hurt them. I think agents think it can only hurt them. But I’m telling you if you’re dominating, the BIG3 you’ll get back in the league.”

Carmelo Anthony hasn't played in an NBA game since November 2018. He appeared in just 10 games with the Houston Rockets last season before the franchise exiled and traded the 10-time All-Star to the Chicago Bulls, who waived Anthony.

Melo averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds with the Rockets while shooting 40.5 percent from the field, 32.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.2 percent from the free-throw line.

Anthony might have to swallow his ego and take Brian Scalabrine's advice. Anthony’s future in the NBA is very uncertain, as we are approaching September and Melo is still on the open market.
