The NBA is currently experiencing one of its most open seasons in some time. Not only are there not many “super teams” around the league, but parity seems to be at an all-time high. According to former NBA player Channing Frye, however, he still believes that the best handfuls of players in the league are only one two teams, and they happen to be the two best in the league.

Speaking to SB Nation, Frye said that he believes there isn’t a “best player in the world” right now, but he would say that three of them all reside on two teams. “But I would say, of the four best players, three of them are in this game,” he said. “I would say Anthony Davis, LeBron, and Giannis. And then the fourth would be James Harden. Fifth would be Luka.”

When asked about Kawhi Leonard, the reigning Finals MVP and a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, Frye noted that he believed he hasn’t “done it” this year just yet, and could be experience “championship remorse.” When it came to the likes of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Frye said he couldn’t separate the three.

“Listen, at the end of the day. If you have any one of those three players, and you’re not vying for a championship, that is your fault as a GM,” he said. “For not putting better players around those guys. Honestly. If you have any three, and you’re not going for a championship, there’s some problems.”

While the league may be experiencing a boost in competitive teams, it still does feel like only a handful of teams have a true shot at the NBA Finals. With the Lakers and Bucks set to face each other this week, it’ll be an interesting test to see which of the two teams has more going for it right now, as well.
