The addition of the All-time rosters for all NBA teams in NBA 2K18 has added to the anticipation of fans for the video game, scheduled to be released next month. It will give them a chance to play with a lineup consisting of NBA greats, and wearing their old teams’ jerseys.

There are some gamers who are already looking forward to playing them, but as recently reported, not all worthy league players from the past will be available in the game. While it may appear that they have been snubbed by 2K Sports, the reason behind it has been made known, which makes a lot of sense why the developers can’t just simply add them.

It’s definitely surprising that there are some retired players who did not sign a deal with 2K Sports, as majority of former players have come to terms with the company for them to appear in the video game. But as it turns out, another big reason is not being part of the retired players association, which the league and the NBPA are trying to improve with more benefits possibly given to them in the future.

As the clauses needed to include them are now known publicly, there could be players who may reconsider their participation in it, and could work on striking a deal with 2K, and even apply in the retired players association soon. However, if they still do not want to appear in the video game, it will continue to be their right, and could still opt not to be included in any roster moving forward.
