While there are a lot of die-hard NBA fans who consistently watch games and follow the league's players, there are also some who just ride the bandwagon, even calling them with different nicknames just to keep up with the action and pretend as though they have been fans for a long time.

A recent Reddit thread was made which asked fans to cite instances or give examples of some people they know who gave unique, and even hilarious, names to players while watching them perform. From Russell Westbrook being called “Turtle Man,” Stephen Curry named “Stephster,” Steven Adams thought of as Drogo, and Kyle Lowry as “short man”, these are just some responses given to the link started by user themanyfaceasian.

This only goes to show that there are still plenty of folks who are not familiar with NBA players despite their immense popularity. However, they are mostly known not only in the country, but all over the world, by a lot of people, and these examples are from the ones who are not really much into basketball in general or are only fans of the sport when it is trending.

For what it’s worth, the examples given are very hilarious, and there are also some that were based on which celebrities they have a resemblance to, just like Kent Bazemore thought of as Chance the Rapper and Reggie Jackson as Bobby Schmurda.

These nicknames may not be the ones these players are known for, but it does give the fans a recall for them, which also proves that their popularity is continuing to rise, along with the NBA, reaching more fans the past few years and even more moving forward.
