Jamal Crawford has bounced around the NBA quite a lot. He’s played for seven different teams in the league and could be playing for his eighth NBA employer next season. While he’s often changed uniforms, one thing that has remained thus far in his career is his being a terrific teammate. As a testament to that intangible quality of Crawford, he was recognized during the NBA Awards in Santa Monica, winning the Twyman–Stokes Teammate of the Year Award.

It’s not a major award, but Crawford felt genuinely appreciative of the recognition which was evident on the terse but meaningful message he shared through his own Twitter account.

What's so cool about “teammate of the year” is that it isn't an award you're ” trying” to win. It's just truly wanting the best for others more than you do yourself.. It speaks to character, very proud of this. Thank you!!

Crawford’s Minnesota Timberwolves teammates surely would say that the shooting guard is more than just a good guy to be around with.

Last season, Crawford provided 10.3 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 20.7 minutes per game for Minnesota. His points and minutes averages were his lowest in years, but he was still a key figure on the team’s second unit.

Those who liked him in Minnesota, however, might have to start accepting the idea that Jamal Crawford won’t be back playing for the team next season, as he recently declined his player option for 2018-19.
