Jamal Crawford recounts epic ‘Like Mike’ moment involving a pair of Jay-Z signature shoes
In his prime, Jamal Crawford was one of the most lethal scorers out there, whether he was part of the starting lineup early in his career or when he embraced a sixth man role later on. Among his many scoring outbursts, he cited one as probably the most memorable not because of what happened in the game, but because of a text he received after.
In an appearance on Club Shay Shay, Crawford recounted his four 50-point explosions with four different teams. For him, the best one was the first 50 piece of his career when he was a member of the Chicago Bulls during the 2003-2004 season, all while donning a pair of S. Carters, the signature shoes of rap mogul Jay-Z. In an interesting turn of events, Jay-Z actually witnessed Crawford’s performance and had something to say afterward.
.@JCrossover once dropped 50 wearing some S. Carter's and Jay-Z texted him after the game and said, "Must be the shoes" 👀😆

Crawford, who makes his voice heard in current NBA issues, dropped 50 points on the road against the Toronto Raptors, leading the Bulls to the hard-earned 114-108 overtime win. He scored 24 points in the fourth quarter alone before dropping two more buckets in OT to preserve the victory. The ankle-breaking guard shot 18-of-34 from the field, including 6-of-11 from deep.
It’s one of those amazing behind-the-scenes stories that fans only get to hear now. Jay-Z is of course a massive basketball fan and was once a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets. No one exactly knows how deep his relationship is with a bunch of NBA players. But judging by Jamal Crawford’s story, it looks like they’re pretty close.
