Jeremy Lin made quite a splash during his memorable run in the 2011-12 season with the New York Knicks. So much so, that his incredible spell of performances earned its very own moniker: “Linsanity.”

Recently, the 6-foot-3 guard opened up about his time in The Big Apple. According to the then starting Knicks point guard, he completely regrets not being more in the moment.

“It was the most special, precious moment,” Lin shared, via Kurt Helin of NBC Sports. “And in the end to the previous question about regrets. My biggest regret is that I didn’t soak in every second of that experience. That’s my biggest regret. My biggest regret is that I was too immature and young to really learn how to not take that for granted. I was so set on the next season and rehabbing from my injury and what I wanted to happen next that I couldn’t stay in the moment and just appreciate that, and appreciate New York for who New York was and what New York did for me, who all those fans were, and what that meant. It was so special.”

Unfortunately for Lin, that turned out to be the best spell of his entire career to date. As he explained above, his being preoccupied with what lied ahead distracted him completely from enjoying the beauty of that moment.

Lin did win a title with the Toronto Raptors last season, but his role was limited, to say the least. He was not able to secure a deal with any team this season, so it is not impossible to think that we may have already seen the last of the 31-year-old in the NBA.
