Free agent shooting guard Jodie Meeks has reportedly drawn interest from the Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte Hornets, according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN.

Meeks won the championship last season with the Toronto Raptors. He played in eight games during the regular season and averaged 6.4 points. The 31-year-old averaged just 1.6 points in the 2019 playoffs in 14 games.

Jodie Meeks began his NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2009. He has since played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, Washington Wizards and Raptors.

Meeks, a Tennessee native, has career averages of 9.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 539 NBA games while shooting 42.0 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from beyond the arc and 87.9 percent from the free-throw line.

One would surmise Jodie Meeks prefers to play for the Clippers over the Hornets. The Clippers are title contenders after signing two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard and trading for All-Star small forward Paul George this offseason.

The Hornets lost star point guard Kemba Walker to the Boston Celtics in free agency. Charlotte replaced Walker with Terry Rozier.

Jodie Meeks is a proven shooter who can space the floor well. You can never have enough shooting in today's NBA. The Clippers should try and sign Meeks to a cheap contract. The more shooters around Leonard and George, the better.
