A new basketball app looks to take the world of hoops by storm. HomeCourt, a phone/tablet application developed by Silicon Valley-based technology company NEX Team, is aimed to help improve the user's basketball aptitude through the help of artificial intelligence.

This app is so promising that the likes of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, former back-to-back MVP winner Steve Nash, former Philadelphia 76ers GM Sam Hinkie, and Atlanta Hawks guard Jeremy Lin have all decided to invest on the app.

Rohan Nadkarni of Sports Illustrated explains how HomeCourt functions:

“The app requires some setup, namely a phone or tablet and most often a tripod, but from there it’s rather easy to use. You record your workout on the court of your choosing, and HomeCourt will tell you your number of makes, misses, your hot zones, and splice individual videos of every single one of your shots—with a chance to even view them in slow motion.”

Lin tried the app for himself and was more than impressed.

“After using it the first time, basically I was like, ‘Man, this is legit,’” Lin said. “This is something that anybody at any level can use. I’ve never really had objective, quick data like this.”

Phoenix Suns legend Steve Nash was also all praises for HomeCourt.

“If you love basketball and want to be the best you can be, you want every advantage possible,” said Nash. “When I saw the demo, it made me go back to when I was a player at any level, when I was starting out or even a pro, I would love to have had a simple application to give me this feedback.”

With the constant advancements in technology, it is no surprise that an app of this nature has been made accessible to the general public. We can't wait to get our hands on this wonder.

As for Mark Cuban, he's become relatively synonymous with apps.
