Every Michael Jordan memorabilia is selling like hotcakes at the moment due to the popularity of ESPN's 10-part docu-series The Last Dance.

Now, per Darren Rovell of ESPN, a $15,000 signed wire from Jordan to the Trump Casino Indiana has gone to the auction block on Sunday, around the same time Episodes 7 and 8 of the documentary were set to air.

A closer look at the ticket indicates it was issued on February 16, 1998 — which coincides with Jordan and the Chicago Bulls‘ now famed 1997-98 season.

That fact alone should make it a popular item for collectors all over the world, considering it was issued at the time Jordan was getting chastised for his supposed gambling addiction.

As shown in The Last Dance, the controversy began when Jordan went on an Atlantic City gambling trip in the midst of the 1993 Eastern Conference Finals where the Bulls trailed the New York Knicks 2-0.

His Airness was hounded by the press afterward and received scrutiny from fans who were quick to judge. It got so bad that MJ refused to speak to the media for quite some time.

Michael Jordan was summoned by the league but was ultimately pardoned by then-commissioner David Stern. The late former commissioner said Jordan’s gambling “never reached epic crisis levels.”

When Jordan did break his media silence, he told Ahmad Rashad that he is not a gambling addict and simply has a “competition problem.”

The prized check, meanwhile, is being auctioned off by Goldi Auctions along with other Jordan memorabilia. The item was reportedly obtained by the consignor through an executive who worked at the casino.

Given the infamy that comes with the check, we wouldn't be surprised if it sells for a higher value than the original $15K it was intended for.
