With the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic sweeping the world, retired NBA player and current ESPN analyst Paul Pierce is not taking any chances.

The 42-year-old Boston Celtic great sent a message to his Instagram followers on Friday while stocking up on essential supplies before isolating himself at home.

“This coronavirus got me in the store like stocking up. I'm about to be in the house, ya'll just stay safe out there, for real,” Paul Pierce said in a short IG story clip, as he was seen pushing a cart filled with groceries.

The NBA, meanwhile, has suspended its 2019-20 regular season campaign following Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert testing positive for the coronavirus.

Apart from players, coaches, referees, and team staff, even those who work behind the mic were advised to self-quarantine and stay indoors as much as possible. TNT analyst Charles Barkley recently admitted that he also fell ill and is currently awaiting results of his tests for coronavirus.

Currently, two NBA players have tested positive, with Gobert and Jazz teammate Donovan Mitchell both being diagnosed. It was initially feared that more Jazz players could have gotten ill, especially with reports that Gobert carelessly kept touching his teammates and their belongings prior to being diagnosed.

NBA referee Courtney Kirkland is also being tested for the virus after working the Jazz-Raptors match on Monday.

A young fan who received an autograph from Gobert was also reportedly afflicted by the highly-contagious virus.

Other teams who faced the Jazz for the past 10 days — which includes the Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors — demonstrated no symptoms and tested negative for the virus.
