The Raiders will be playing their inaugural season in Las Vegas in 2020 after moving from Oakland. According to Hall of Fame center Shaquille O'Neal, an NBA team might be following suit.

O'Neal said he “heard through the grapevine” that a couple NBA teams could soon be up for sale, adding one of those teams might be relocating to Sin City.

The NBA already has a strong presence in Vegas, where they host the Summer League. Is it possible Vegas could soon receive its own franchise?

Shaquille O'Neal did not indicate which teams might be up for sale, but it is certainly possible the league would look kindly on a potential relocation.

Vegas might also play a role in the future of the 2019-20 NBA season. MGM Resorts recently pitched a plan for the league to play out the remainder of the season in Vegas (via News 3 Sports):

Several news outlets, including Sports Illustrated, report that MGM Resorts International has offered the NBA the chance to finish its season in Las Vegas. MGM's plan reportedly calls for Mandalay Bay to serve as the hub for the league, since it's connected to other hotels and a convention center.

According to the proposal, as many as 24 basketball courts could be built at the convention center. Players' families would reportedly be able to stay with them in the quarantined resort.

The league is considering a myriad of options, including playing at Walt Disney World. Even if Vegas does not end up playing a role in the resumption of play, it could still be the beneficiary of an NBA franchise, if O'Neal is to be believed.
