It's not every day when you see two superstars like Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield come up with two of the sloppiest late-game blunders in this crazy 2020-21 NBA season. Don't worry Marcus Smart, we still have you on the list.
The Golden State Warriors hosted the Sacramento Kings on Sunday and the game went all the way down to the wire. The Warriors were up by just a single point with just 17 seconds left in the game when things started to get messy.
After a Tyrese Haliburton bucket, Andrew Wiggins inbounded the ball and found Curry to help secure the rock and hopefully get fouled. The Kings, however, opted to trap rather than foul Curry, which forced the two-time MVP to pitch an errant cross-court pass. Hield was in a perfect position and quickly intercepted the ball.
Hield was just under the free throw line with a relatively open lane and could've given the Kings a one-point lead with an easy go-ahead bucket. But Hield had his eyes on the rim instead of the ball and clumsily dropped it like a hot potato and the play ended with him falling out of bounds trying to save it.
Curry's reaction afterward said it all.
Stephen Curry, who finished with 37 points in his latest scoring binge, would go on to knock down a couple of crucial free throws later on to help seal the huge W for the Warriors, 117-113.
