According to a story in the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, a preseason game on October 3 between the Houston Rockets and LA Clippers sold out within minutes of going on sale to the general public.

The game, which is slated to take place at the Stan Sheriff Center in Oahu, was understandably widely noted on preseason calendars for NBA fans as the first opportunity to take a look at Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in their new digs as Clippers as well as the debut of Russell Westbrook on the Rockets.

According to the story by Brian McInnis, “Some would-be customers said the ETicketHawaii.com sales website showed zero seat availability within 10 minutes of ticket sales opening to the general public at noon.”

Perhaps one of the reasons why the tickets flew off the digital shelves so quickly is because Clippers and UH season ticket holders were given priority access to a set number of tickets as were prior attendees to Clippers games at the Stan Sheriff Center in Hawaii.

This quick selling is understandable, as the 2019 offseason was one of the most memorable in some time due to the extremely high value of big-name players swapping teams – including the NBA Finals MVP, Kawhi Leonard, sauntering over to join the Clippers after long being the team in L.A. that was in the shadow of the Lakers’ dynastic tendencies.

On the Rockets’ side, Chris Paul was ousted in favor of Russell Westbrook – reuniting James Harden and Russ for the first time on the same team since those fateful OKC teams that featured that duo, Kevin Durant, Serge Ibaka and many others.
