Tom Thibodeau has been one of the hottest tickets of late, with several teams reportedly looking at the 62-year-old to become their next head coach. Interested teams include the New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets, and the New York Knicks.

For his part, Tom Thibodeau has now addressed the rumors, saying that at this point, there is nothing concrete on the table:

“They’re just rumors,’’ he said, via Marc Berman of the New York Post. “And this time of year, everything is on hold. Normally you would have some openings and right now there aren’t any openings. So you don’t want to speculate on what jobs could open. That’s what you have an agent for. He’ll certainly, at some point, look at if there is an opportunity, whether it be a good match or not.”

The coronavirus pandemic has literally put the league on hold, but this has not prevented teams from doing their due diligence with regards to potentially hiring a new head coach. As it turns out, Thibodeau has jumped to the top of the list of several clubs.

Thibodeau attempted to further play down the rumors, reiterating that at the moment, he is still connected with the Minnesota Timberwolves front office. This is despite of the fact that the team removed him from his post of head coach and president of basketball operations last January.

“I’m still under contract with Minnesota, so I feel like I’m in a position where I can be patient,” he added.

What is clear, however, is that Thibodeau is not denying any potential move. It appears that he too is seriously looking at his options at this point, so if all goes according to planned, we should see Thibs coaching another NBA team yet again in the near future.
