Veteran swingman Vince Carter still wants to play one more season in the NBA before retiring.

Carter is an unrestricted free agent. He played with the Atlanta Hawks last season. The former high-flyer says he's just waiting for the right opportunity:

Vince Carter averaged 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 2018-19 with the Hawks. He shot 41.9 percent from the floor, 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and 71.2 percent from the free-throw line in 76 games.

Carter recently said he wants to join a team where he’s going to have a playing role. He probably won’t return to the Hawks since they have a bevy of wings on the roster.

There was a rumor back in June that the Miami Heat might have some interest in signing Vince Carter. It's officially August, though, and Carter hasn't even had a meeting with the Heat, so we can probably squash that rumor.

Carter entered the league back in 1998 with the Toronto Raptors after playing his college ball at the University of North Carolina. Carter has career averages of 17.2 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 1,481 regular-season games with the Raptors, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Hawks.

The 42-year-old Carter is an eight-time All-Star and was the 1999 Rookie of the Year.
