Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant recently posted a video on Instagram explaining how he grew up loving the game of basketball and idolizing legends such as Scottie Pippen and Vince Carter. He also said that he would have loved to play with the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal.

Durant, the two-time reigning Finals MVP with the Warriors, clarified that it wasn't the legendary 2001 Lakers squad that he wanted to play for, but the team that also had Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel. Durant said that he loved that team because of their youth and potential, and that he would have fit perfectly on that team.

The two-time champion named his top five NBA players of all-time. Kobe and Shaq were included.

It's a pretty interesting take from Durant. Despite having O'Neal, Bryant, Van Exel, and Jones, the Lakers failed to win a title because they didn't have a closer. They simply can't get past the Utah Jazz in the playoffs. KD would have been that unstoppable scoring force for that young, inexperienced squad.

Don't expect these comments to be foreshadowing of a future Durant-LeBron James team-up in Los Angeles. Durant has commented in the past about the toxic media environment that comes with playing alongside James, making a union highly unlikely.
