New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson and Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant made history in their February 16 game against one another.

Williamson continued his interior dominance by scoring 31 points, seven boards, six dimes, and two steals. He shot a ridiculous 81.3% from the field. Morant who has been in a bit of a slump by his standards erupted for 28 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists. The Pelicans came out on top. 144-113.

For the longest time, there was always a huge drop-off in talent and production between the first and second overall pick. Just look at LeBron James and Darko Miličić, Anthony Davis and his Kentucky teammate Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Kyrie Irving and Derrick Williams, John Wall and Evan Turner, and many more.

There are draft classes where the number two overall pick is a big, consolation prize.  An exception to this is Kevin Durant. Despite being drafted after Greg Oden, he has had a much better career than him. Even if Oden never got hurt, that would still be the case. Ja Morant is looking to join Durant on that list.

Even though he retired as a player way back in 1989, Abdul-Jabbar still has the distinction of scoring the most points in the NBA at 38,387. Perhaps, LeBron James with his longevity and sustained high-level of play can catch up to him as he ranks third overall.  Abdul-Jabbar is a 6-time champion and 6-time league MVP. He scored a bulk of those 38,387 points, with his legendary skyhook, which is widely regarded as the most unstoppable shot in basketball.

While Walk never reached the heights of Abdul-Jabbar's career, he was a solid big man in the NBA from 1969 to 1976. He averaged 12.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.
