The NBA regular season continues with games on Monday. The Philadelphia 76ers will travel to take on the Washington Wizards. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a 76ers-Wizards prediction and pick.

These two teams have had somewhat similar starts to the season. The Philadelphia 76ers have a record of 25-17 and are coming off back to back wins. While the Washington Wizards are 22-21 and have won three of their last four games. This should be a competitive match between two solid teams.

Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread

The Philadelphia 76ers have had a strong start to the year. Through the first half of the season they have managed to win 25 games and lose 17. The Sixers are coming off back to back wins, with their most recent victory coming over the Miami Heat by 11. Philadelphia will look to extend their win streak on Monday as they face a competitive Wizards team. While COVID and injuries have been a concern across the league, this Sixers team has been strong. If Philly can put in another performance like they did last game then they should be able to steal this game on the road.

The biggest reason the Sixers were able to dominate a strong Miami Heat team was because of their defense. Philadelphia absolutely shut down the Heat. The Sixers forced the Heat to shoot less than 39% from the field and less than 26% from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Philadelphia had a great shooting night, shooting nearly 51% from the field and 41% from beyond the arc. If the Sixers are able to shut down Washington's efficiency in the same way they did Miami's then they will have no problem winning this game. The Sixers have looked very good recently.

COVID and injuries are currently crippling many competitive teams, but the Sixers, for the most part, have their key roster in tact. Philadelphia has four players listed on their injury report right now, but none of the players are recent additions. The Sixers still have their team members that won the last two games against tough opponents, and they will be ready for battle on Monday. Philly has a good shot at extending their win streak, they just need to come into this game ready.

Why The Wizards Could Cover The Spread

The Washington Wizards have had a very interesting start to the year. This team has seen many ups and downs, as they have risen to the occasion against tough opponents, but have also come up short against weaker ones. Through the first half of the year they have managed to squeak out a winning record with 22 wins and 21 losses. Washington is coming off a five point loss to the Blazers, but before that they had won their last three games. Monday will provide this team with a chance to get back on track and bounce back from a tough loss.

The Wizards just came up short across the board in their game against the Blazers. Portland was in control for the entire game. The Blazers outscored the Wizards in three out of four quarters, with Washington making a late run in the fourth. However, it was too little too late. There is no one particular reason that Washington was unable to secure that win, rather an overall underwhelming night for the Wizards resulted in their defeat. If Washington wants to beat the Sixers then they will need to do better. The Wizards have shown that they can battle, but they will need to prove it once again on Monday.

While COVID and injuries are affecting every team in the league, the Wizards currently only have one player on their injury report. Unfortunately for Washington, that player is Bradley Beal. Beal is in the league's health and safety protocols and is listed as questionable for Monday's match. The Wizards star's availability could have a huge impact on the outcome of this game. If Beal plays then Washington has a much better shot at pulling off this upset. However, if he doesn't play then a Wizards loss could be imminent.

Final 76ers-Wizards Prediction & Pick

This isn't too difficult of a decision. Betting on the possible availability of Bradley Beal to maybe give the Wizards a shot at making this game close is a losing move. The Sixers have looked good lately and should be able to get this win pretty decisively. Washington could pull off this upset, but without Beal it would certainly be an uphill battle. Pick the Sixers to win and cover and just hope that the Wizards star sits this one out.
