Why The Lakers Can Cover The Spread

The Lakers list Anthony Davis as probable and LeBron James as questionable for Tuesday. Obviously the status of James will be huge and the line will be impacted in a major way if he's ruled out. It seems like James will likely play, but just to be safe it may be smart to wait until his status is announced before placing your bets. The Lakers will be looking to improve on their 3-5 road record this season, as they continue to try to find rhythm in what has been an inconsistent start to the season. The Lakers have struggled to find a good groove this season between the injuries to James and the process of trying to fit new pieces. Russell Westbrook has been better of late, but the fit is still questionable as it often is with Westbrook and other stars.

Weirdly, the Lakers are just 7-15 against the spread this season, but they should be able to win vs. the Kings on Tuesday. They are looking to move above .500 (and not fall below it), and as the better team they should be able to take advantage of a matchup vs. a lesser team like the Kings.

Why The Kings Cover The Spread

The Kings followed up their triple-overtime win over the Lakers with a dud of a performance vs. the Memphis Grizzlies. Somehow, the Grizzlies blew out the Kings by 27 on Sunday, then the Kings flew back to California after the game. The Lakers have been in California since the triple-overtime loss, so they should be the more rested team here despite being on the road.

Sacramento is just 3-7 at home this season, and Harrison Barnes, who may be their best player so far this season, is listed as doubtful to return on Tuesday. The Kings will have an uphill battle to beat the Lakers for the second time in less than a week without Barnes. De'Aaron Fox and Tyrese Haliburton will look to carry the load vs. a Lakers team that is hungry to pick up victories after a rough start to the season.

Final Lakers-Kings Prediction & Pick

Take the Lakers to win and cover vs. the Kings on Tuesday. Los Angeles hasn't been good vs. the spread, or that good in general this season, but they should be able to take care of the Kings on Tuesday. The Lakers will need to be able to beat teams like the Kings on the road if they are going to catch up in the West standings and live up to the preseason hype. So far this season, the Lakers have been a huge disappointment. They should be able to win and win comfortably vs. a short-handed Kings team, but it doesn't mean they will.
