After spending the past few weeks lobbying for the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors to sign him, Dwight Howard has finally found a home… overseas… in Taiwan. Howard announced his surprising career move to play for the Taoyuan Leopards in an Instagram reel, sending Twitter into a frenzy, especially as many deemed the future first ballot Hall of Famer to be too good still to be plying his trade in Taiwan's T1 League.

While Howard is nowhere near the player he used to be, he still could have provided interior depth to a team that sorely needs the toughness and interior presence he's still capable of giving late in his career. He proved last season with the Los Angeles Lakers that he still has something left in the tank, posting 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds in 16.2 minutes per night, but clearly, no teams were interested in his services.

And with Tacko Fall, a bit player in the NBA, looking like the next coming of God in China, NBA fans can't wait to see just how gaudy the stat lines Howard will put up against less-than-stellar competition.

Meanwhile, some fans also wondered how Dwight Howard would acclimate to an unfamiliar place with a foreign culture and a foreign language.

Alas, it's difficult to shake the notion that Dwight Howard hasn't been given a fair shot by the league, especially when he's learned to play to his remaining strengths as his physical tools continue to wane. Perhaps Howard is shrewd in that he's merely looking to rehabilitate his value by playing somewhere he can dominate so an NBA team that may find itself in need of a big man gives him a look.

At the end of the day, Dwight Howard's love for the game is apparent in that he is willing to uproot his life by moving to the other side of the globe just so he could play basketball. Howard has nothing left to prove anyway, having won an NBA championship in 2020 and multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards across the years. Nevertheless, it's great to see the 36-year old big man continue to truck along and add to his already beefed-up resume.
