Tuesday night's contest between the Denver Nuggets and the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves had huge postseason implications on the line. The Nuggets are strengthening their bid for home-court advantage in the West playoff picture, while the Timberwolves were fighting for their dear lives from outside that picture looking in.

The competition was fierce early into the contest. So much so that centers Karl-Anthony Towns and Nikola Jokic got into a rather testy confrontation in the paint.

Here's the video of Towns driving hard to the hoop and looking for a foul call, only to be denied by the towering Jokic:

As the replay would indicate, perhaps there was indeed supposed to be a foul called on the seven-foot Serbian. As such, KAT's minor retaliation with a follow-through shove back at Joker was somehow warranted as an objection to the no-call.

Obviously, Nikola Jokic didn't take this lightly and gave a little shove back at Karl-Anthony Towns.

Thankfully, matters didn't escalate into nothing more than a quick tussle between the two standout big men.

The Timberwolves need to string together a handful of consecutive wins and a little help from the other lower-seeded playoff contenders for a playoff berth. They're currently 5.5 games behind the Utah Jazz for the final playoff spot. Towns is making sure that his team isn't giving up the good fight, scoring 19 points before halftime against Denver.

The Nuggets, meanwhile, look to solidify their grasp of the second seed in the West and even challenge for the top spot in the standings.  Denver trail the Golden State Warriors by just a game and a half entering Tuesday's contest.
