In spite of rumors that New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis wants to be traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, Stefano Fusaro of ESPN reports that neither Davis nor his representatives have informed the Pelicans of any desired trade destinations.

The Lakers, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks are considered the top potential landing spots for Davis, although the Knicks would probably have to land the No. 1 pick to have a shot after trading away Kristaps Porzingis on Thursday.

However, the Pelicans reportedly want nothing to do with trading Davis to the Lakers and seem to be waiting on the Celtics, who can't make a trade for Davis until the summer.

Although the trade deadline is in less than one week, it seems very unlikely that the 25-year-old will be moved by then. Remember: Davis cannot opt out of his contract until the end of next season, so he is still under Pelicans' team control through 2020.

That gives New Orleans ample time to receive offers and eventually choose the best one.

Davis, who played his collegiate basketball at the University of Kentucky, was originally selected by New Orleans with the first overall pick of the 2012 NBA Draft when the franchise was still the Hornets.

Through six-and-a-half years with the organization, Davis has made the playoffs just twice, losing to the Golden State Warriors in the first round in 2015 and falling to the Warriors again—this time in the second round—last spring.

Seemingly tired of the lack of success, Davis asked the Pelicans for a trade earlier in the week.
