The Atlanta Hawks reached a milestone Wednesday against the Washington Wizards. The struggling team went on to pile up 45 points in the third quarter alone. That is the most they have scored in a single quarter since 2010.

The Hawks seemed to have turned into a Golden State Warriors clone because of their monstrous output in that quarter.
Unfortunately, it was not enough as their defense let them down. They lost the game, 131-117, to drop dead-last in the standings of the Eastern Conference with a 5-20 record.
Article Continues BelowA poor start seemed cost the Hawks from getting the win win. They only managed to score 49 points in the first half while allowing the Wizards to pulverize them with a mind-boggling 72 points through the first two quarters.
The last time the franchise scored 45 points in a single quarter was against the Toronto Raptors, whom they faced in April 9, 2010. But the results then were different, as the Hawks won by a score of 107-101 to earn their 50th win that season.
Kent Bazemore was the second leading scorer with 22 points. He attempted a team-high of nine three-pointers, but only sank two. Trae Young struggled from the floor, but still finished with 14 points.
Hawks 21-year veteran Vince Carter has seemingly regained his younger days as he finished the game with 13 points in 22 minutes on the court.
