The Atlanta Hawks are preparing to take care of business against the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA play-in tournament. They are hoping to be fully healthy but there are some uncertain statuses for a few key pieces, including John Collins. Atlanta has received two recent injury updates on Collins over the past couple of days. The first update came from Collins himself, who was asked about his status for Atlanta's play-in game against Charlotte.
“Still not sure yet.”
That answer obviously does not provide much in the way of him playing or not. But the second update provided a bit more clarity. Hawks coach Nate McMillan shared the following news in regards to Collins, per Chris Kirschner.
Nate McMillan said John Collins has played 4-on-4. He said “we’ll see” when it comes to him possibly playing tomorrow.

Atlanta is declining to provide a straight up answer in regards to his status. But the fact that he has not been ruled out is promising. The Hawks are hopeful that he can play and help them earn the win against the Hornets and their top-tier offense. His presence in the post could be a game-changing factor on Wednesday.
John Collins averaged 16.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1 block per game over 54 contests this season. But he has been out for over a month now due to lingering injuries. One would figure that Atlanta will place him in the lineup if he displays he is the slightest bit healthy. He and Trae Young have the ability to lead the Hawks to a win over the Hornets if Collins is on the court.
As of now, Collins is an official gametime decision. We will provide updates as they become public.
