After defeating the Charlotte Hornets in impressive fashion, the Atlanta Hawks now take the next step in their quest for a playoff spot. Trae Young and Co. will now take on the Cavs on Friday in a win-or-go-home battle for the eighth and final seed in the Eastern Conference.
One of the biggest headlines for this highly-anticipated matchup is the availability of Cavs All-Star big man Jarrett Allen. After missing the past few weeks due to a fractured finger, the 6-foot-11 center will reportedly “attempt to play” in Friday's showdown. For the Hawks, however, this development doesn't change much in terms of their gameplan (h/t Chris Kirschner of The Athletic):
Nate McMillan said the Hawks are preparing as if Jarrett Allen will be available for Cleveland tomorrow. He said even if he doesn’t play, the Cavs’ size still presents a challenge for Atlanta.

The Cavs are a formidable foe with or without Allen. However, there's no denying that the Hawks will have a much tougher time in the paint with Allen in the mix. Cleveland's advantage becomes even more significant with John Collins still sidelined.
The winner of Friday's single-elimination contest will get to face the top-seeded Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs.
