During the 2014-2015 season, the Atlanta Hawks turned a lot of heads by winning 60 games and had many people consider them as one of the league's teams of the future. However, they failed to continue their success and only won 48 games last year and were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the playoffs.
Their failure to build on the momentum they had the previous campaign prompted changes in their lineup which included agreeing to the request of their former starting point guard, Jeff Teague, to be traded.
The 28-year-old Wake Forest product, who now plays for the Indiana Pacers, recently reflected on his time with the Hawks and gave his thoughts on why they were not able to follow up their promising season with an equally good one.
“It happens to every team. You can only go so far. You can only do so much. I think we reached our ceiling with me and Al and that group when we won those 60 games. We followed up and didn’t do as well the next year. We had a good season but we pretty much knew it was over.”

Teague also made it clear that he does not have any beef with Dennis Schroder, who took over his reigns as the Hawks' starting point guard.
“It’s not about me and Dennis. I don’t know why people always make it like there is bad blood. I’m not even that type of guy. I want the best for everybody. I was happy when he got his extension. I saw him work hard every day to become a better player. He deserved it. I was happy when (Kent Bazemore) got his chance and his money. I love that team over there. I love those guys over there. I never wish bad on anybody or hope they don’t do well. I hope they all play great.”
Now playing for his hometown team, Teague has already moved on and is looking to bring his wealth of experience from his time in Atlanta to the Pacers in hopes of helping them reach more than the success he had there.
