Damian Lillard had plenty of free time on Wednesday afternoon, so the Portland Trail Blazers guard decided to host a sort of ask-me-anything session on Twitter. Among the many interesting inquiries posed at Lillard was from a fan who asked him of what team he expected to take him in the 2012 NBA Draft.

It is fun to postulate what could have been had the Kings selected Lillard. Lillard was drafted by the Blazers sixth overall, just a notch later than when Sacramento spent its fifth pick on Kansas Jayhawks big man Thomas Robinson. If the Kings drafted Lillard, they would have then a young trio of DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, and Lillard. While the Kings’ front office is known to be prone to fumbling its own management of its assets, who’s to say that they won’t keep the hypothetical trio had they opted to take Lillard?

Selecting Robinson ahead of Lillard was a decision Sacramento definitely wish they could take back. Since then, Lillard has blossomed into one of the best guards in the league with two All-Star games appearances. Robinson, on the other hand, is currently out of the league and is now in Europe after putting up pathetic averages of 4.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for six teams in the NBA.

Interestingly, Thomas played alongside Lillard in Portland for two seasons.
