Even though it has been almost two years since Isaiah Thomas was traded by the Boston Celtics, he remains loyal to the team's fans.
In a recent interview with Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe, IT said that his love for the city of Boston and it's people will never change despite the ugly split he and the Celtics had last year.
“What happened in Boston happened for a reason, and that love’s going to last forever,” Thomas said.
“I was only here three years, but you’d think I was here 15 from the love that they showed me and the love that we gave each other. That’s all genuine. It was a city that needed something at that time, and I needed a team that believed in me. I’m a hard-working guy and played with my all, and that’s all the people here wanted. They expected greatness, and I wanted to show them greatness.”
Isaiah Thomas had the most success in his career during his brief stint with the Celtics. He was an MVP candidate back in 2016, as he led them to the best record in the East. Fans became loyal to him because of his unwavering dedication to the franchise — highlighted when he played during the 2016-17 playoffs despite the tragic death of her sister.

However, IT suffered a hip injury and everything went downward spiral for him since then. He was traded by the Celtics to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Kyrie Irving before the start of last season.
Thomas bounced from the Cavs to the Los Angeles Lakers, then eventually to the Denver Nuggets. But while most people felt that the Celtics did him wrong, he seems to have already moved on and is just thankful for the opportunity he had with the team.
“I’ll remember how the city treated my family, how ever since I came here, it was special to me.” Thomas added. “So this will always be home, this will always be like how [my hometown] Tacoma feels to me. It’ll always be something that’s bigger than basketball here, and I can’t thank this city and organization enough for that.”
