There has been a lot of talks this offseason about what Kyrie Irving is going to do after next season is over. Irving is set to be a free agent, and a lot of rumors have him going to New York to team up with someone like Jimmy Butler. What a lot of people forget is that the Celtics have him for at least one more season, and the expectations are high for Irving and the Celtics.

Irving is working back from a knee injury that saw him miss the end of the regular season and all of the playoffs. Celtics assistant Jay Larranaga has liked what he has seen from Irving this offseason, and the coach thinks the point guard is excited about Boston's direction, according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.

“We’re both just anxious for the season to get started,” Larranaga said Thursday in a phone interview from Italy. “I think he’s doing great. You read his body language, and I don’t want to speak for anyone else, but he seems really excited for the direction we’re going, and I think he’s very excited to lead us as well.”

The Celtics are by most standards the favorites to win the Eastern Conference and Irving is a big reason why. When Irving is healthy he is one of the best point guards in the league and with a loaded roster like the Celtics have, things are looking up. Irving is expected to be ready at the beginning of training camp and he staying healthy is going to be key for the Celtics this year.
