The Boston Celtics have yet to get any assurance or sense of indication that San Antonio Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard would be willing to stay in Boston if traded there, according to Mark Murphy of The Boston Herald.

The Celtics front office is doing its due diligence by exploring a potential trade for Leonard, but locally, it's been merely exploratory talks, with no indication of a substantial trade offer being made from either party.

The Spurs are also listening, but not pushing any trades to either Boston or the Los Angeles Lakers, who are rather high on the urgency meter, as Leonard is the key cog that could clinch a potential LeBron James signing this offseason.

Boston is concerned about the potential that Leonard would stay if the Celtics traded for him, as well as his bill of health after missing the majority of the 2017-18 season with a quad injury.

The Lakers and Celtics view this potential trade vastly different than the other, as the Lakers trading for Leonard would be a tie-in bargaining chip, while Leonard would signify a rather nice addition that could accelerate the Celtics' championship goals.

Ultimately, the Spurs hold all the power and talks will go at their pace, still holding out hope that amends can be made in-house and that they can keep their prized star long enough to sign him to a supermax extension.
