Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown looks as if he’ll have quite a long and successful career in the NBA, given how well he’s been playing in his second year. But after he calls quits on his playing days, he could consider a career in politics.
A member of the alternative rock band Counting Crows recently confessed on Twitter that he believed Brown should just concentrate on running for Senate over an NBA career, back when he first got to know the rising hoops star as a freshman at Cal.
The first time I hung out with Jaylen Brown @FCHWPO he was an 18 or 19yr old freshman. My first thought was he should forget wasting time in the NBA and just run for the Senate. But then I remembered Bill Bradley and thought…(shrug) why not just do it all?

It’s a mystery exactly which band member tweeted from the band’s official account, or if it’s indeed a member of the band who tweeted it. Although, Counting Crows frontman Adam Duritz is an avid NBA fan, lives in California, and was even seen partying with the Golden State Warriors when they won the championship last season, so it won’t be a surprise if it was him.
Regardless, he certainly has high praise for Brown, who had the smarts and savvy even as a teenager to suggest that he’d be better served with a career in public service. Maybe Brown eventually will do a Bill Bradley and successfully run for office one day, but for the foreseeable future, just about all the running Brown will be doing is on the basketball court.
