The Boston Celtics are still weighing their options when it comes to restricted free agent Marcus Smart. The combo guard has been on the market a bit longer than many teams expected, and on Tuesday, former Boston Herald reporter Mark Murphy said that President Danny Ainge and Smart had a phone call to touch base, but no deal was offered.
Danny Ainge called Marcus Smart today, according to source, though it appears simply to touch base. Still no offer.

Smart came into free agency expecting to get paid, and rightfully so, but as of Tuesday morning, Smart is reportedly open to accepting a long-term offer for less than $15 million annually. The Sacramento Kings were reportedly interested in Smart's services, but their interest seems to have died down. At the end of the day, it's also important to remember that the Celtics can match any offer sheet Smart signs.

Throughout the season, he's been the spark plug for the Celtics, whether he was starting or coming off the bench, and that's something Boston will need if they plan to get back to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010 in what is a wide open Eastern Conference at the moment.
Smart just wrapped up his fourth season in the NBA, averaging 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.3 steals, but continued his four-year trend of shooting below 37 percent from the field over the course of the season. He's also been a statisically bad three-point shooter, attempting 4.5 three-pointers per game and making just 29 percent of his shots from there.
