At just 23 years of age, third-year Boston Celtics power forward Grant Williams is going to be playing on the biggest stage of basketball. One day before Game 1 of the NBA Finals, the former Tennessee standout talked about their opponents, the Golden State Warriors, and the young Celtics stud had nothing but praise for the Dubs.
Grant looked back at his college days as he revealed how he rooted for Draymond Green and the dynasty Warriors during their multiple Finals matchups against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Grant admitted that he was indeed a big fan of the Dubs:
Article Continues Below“Absolutely, I remember exactly where I was when LeBron blocked the shot,” Williams said, via NBA on Twitter. “I remember exactly where I was where the Warriors won it for the first time… I was going for the Warriors then back in the day because I'm a Draymond guy. That was a fun moment for me because my teammates were all going for ‘Bron… When they beat 'em I talked so much trash for a week.”
The Celtics forward then went on to say how he has now put all of this behind him. He still considers it a blessing and a privilege to be able to play against the team that he used to support but at this point, Williams bleeds Celtics green:
“It's kinda funny to come in this arena, in the Chase Center, and play against a team that's still together and the success that they've had,” he continued. “You acknowledge that, but at the same time, not a fan anymore.”
