Prior to the start of this season, the Boston Celtics were projected to be one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. However, a recent string of losses (five of their last six) has them sitting in the No. 5 spot. Several members of the team are beginning to voice their opinions, including Jaylen Brown:
“To be honest, I’m not feeling good at all,” Brown told The Boston Globe. “The losing, it’s not a good feeling. I’m not too good about that.
“Because right now it’s not good,” Brown added. “It’s toxic. I can’t really point out one thing. I don’t have all the answers. I’m just going to try to be part of the change. I’m going to try to do my best. That’s all I’ve got to say.”
The Celtics were one win away from the NBA Finals last season. This season, however, the team is showing signs of dysfunction. For example, one of their recent losses came at the hands of the Chicago Bulls, who have won a whopping 18 games this season. It's true that any team can be defeated on any given night, but these are games that the C's are supposed to win.
Article Continues BelowThe sky is not falling in Boston, but some corrections will need to be made sooner rather than later:
“Everybody has to be on page,” Brown said. “If one person’s not on page, it’s going to affect the whole group. I just try to come out and play hard and see where that leaves me.”
Brown has made 59 appearances with the Celtics this season (23 starts), racking up averages of 12.7 points on 45.2 percent shooting from the field (30.9 percent from beyond the arc), 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 25.9 minutes per outing.
