At the moment, the Boston Celtics are just two wins away from winning an NBA title. This team has gone a long way from being under .500 earlier in the season to being on the brink of a championship.

There's no denying that the success of this group lies heavily in the chemistry between Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. At one point in the season, right when the Celtics were stuck between a rock and a hard place, people began questioning whether or not this partnership needed to be broken up. As it turns out, this is exactly the motivation they needed to get themselves out of the dire situation Boston was in:

“Throughout this season, I tell people the lowest point for me was when we lost to the Knicks,” Tatum recalled, via Malika Andrews of ESPN. “We were up 25 at halftime and [RJ Barrett] hit a buzzer-beater. And that was kinda the most frustrating, and it kinda put things into perspective… It's impossible not to hear the noise on social media, your phone, on TV, so we hear all the things. We just got closer. We had talks. We started watching film together… We both care about each other and about this team and just about winning.”

As they always say, whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Tatum and Brown could have easily caved under the pressure but simply put, they did not. They used all the negativity as fuel to help them get to where they needed to be. In the end, as Tatum says, it was all about winning:

“Two young guys that are ultra-competitive, passionate about what we do, and just wanna win by any means necessary,” Tatum said.
