Boston Celtics point guard Kemba Walker was upgraded to questionable on Tuesday ahead of his team's matchup on Wednesday at home against the San Antonio Spurs, according to The Athletic's Jay King. The 29-year-old Walker has missed the Celtics' past three games as he battles through an illness.

Boston has gone 2-1 in the three recent games Walker has been sidelined. During that stretch, they've played lesser opponents in the Atlanta Hawks and Chicago Bulls. The Celtics lost on Monday to the Washington Wizards, who have been struggling with a slew of injuries yet pulled off the upset over Boston yesterday.

Walker has averaged 22.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, shooting 43.2% from the field and 39.8% from 3-point range in his first season with the Celtics after signing(-and-trading) with the Boston over the summer, leaving his longtime Charlotte Hornets behind to be the new starting floor general for Boston. Walker signed a four-year, $141 million deal with the Celtics, while former Boston guard Terry Rozier went to Charlotte on a three-year, $58 million deal.
So far, Walker has done a good job initiating the Celtics' offense, and calls for the three-time All-Star to make another appearance this year in Chicago as a member of the Celtics have grown, alongside the selections of younger teammates. Fourth-year wing Jaylen Brown and third-year forward Jayson Tatum are also making strong cases for All-Star selections, as all three are leaders of the second-best team in the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics will host the limping Spurs, who are having one of their worst seasons under long-tenured, five-time NBA champion head coach Gregg Popovich. They are currently five games under .500. It's unclear whether Walker will be healthy enough to compete against San Antonio, but he appears to be trending in the right direction.
