The Boston Celtics despite not having the services of their two All-Stars Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward were able to push a win away from reaching the NBA Finals for the first time in eight years. It was charge led by their young core group that has brought forth much optimism about the future that lies ahead of the franchise.
This is something that Irving expressed concerning his team stating that the Celtics have the “championship pedigree” with the group of players that they have assembled, according to Jay King of The Athletic.
Kyrie Irving said he’s happy everyone got to see how special the other Celtics are.
Just cracked into a big smile when he mentioned getting Gordon Hayward back healthy.
“Now we have championship pedigree.”

The Celtics have put together a roster that a solid balance of young and proven talent that could see them take the next step in the process toward becoming a legitimate title contender. The growth that both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum took in the playoffs while garnering much-needed experience in that setting in high-pressure moments should bode well in their development. Meanwhile, Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart also demonstrated that they are dependable assets in the backcourt.
This should help them continue their growth while showing more comfort on the court in more defined roles with both Irving and Hayward back in the mix. What had also become clear is that the Celtics needed both of their scoring punches against the Cleveland Cavaliers that could have lifted them to the NBA Finals. It could have seen them possibly contend with the Golden State Warriors in a highly competitive series.
Depending on what LeBron James plans to do this offseason, it could see the Celtics become the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference behind their talented and deep roster. There is a bright future ahead in Boston and that is something that Irving clearly recognizes that he will play a major factor in helping lift the franchise toward those lofty aspirations.
