Following an interesting stretch of days of working out a trade, All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving was finally introduced by the Boston Celtics on Friday morning.
Irving revealed during the introductory press conference that completion of the trade on Wednesday evening elicited a unique response from him, according to Adam Kaufman of 98.5 The Sports Hub.
Kyrie Irving: "When I got the call [about trade], I cursed…probably twice…knew it was the start of something special." #Celtics

What may have led to this sort of reaction from Irving was that his situation with the Cleveland Cavaliers was resolved before it became a potential distraction and issue this upcoming season. It is also an opportunity for him to join a team that is in prime position to become a title contender and finally dethrone the Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference.
Irving could immediately step into the role as not only the top offensive option but also become the face of the franchise for the Celtics. It could be argued that this is the most ideal situation that he could have asked for joining an organization that is already one of the top teams in the league with the opportunity to grab the responsibility he has most desired.
The ball is now in Irving's court to take full advantage of what could be his chance to primarily lead an NBA team to a championship.
