Smart sprained his right ankle during the fourth quarter of Monday night's 99-85 victory over the Phoenix Suns. He limped off the floor, but Celtics head coach Brad Stevens later noted that the injury didn't seem to be severe.
Celtics reporter Marc D'Amico tweeted about the scene inside the locker room after Smart's injury:
Marcus Smart is sitting at his locker, smile on face, rotating his right foot around to keep that ankle loose. Signs point to this sprain not being all too serious.

The fact that Smart is going to be well enough to play is great news for the Celtics, who are now carrying an 11-2 overall record. In his 13 appearances with the team this season (eight starts), the former No. 6 overall pick has racked up averages of 11.8 points on 38.0 percent shooting from the field (37.2 percent from beyond the arc), 4.9 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals in 31.5 minutes per outing.
In other Celtics-related injury news, Gordon Hayward remains out with a broken left hand. The former Butler standout is targeting a late-December return.
“All things considered, it’s not that bad and should be healed up pretty nicely pretty soon,” Hayward said of his injury, via Jay King of The Athletic.
Wednesday night's Celtics-Clippers games is scheduled to tip inside the Staples Center at 10:00 p.m. ESPN will have live broadcast coverage.
