Boston Celtics combo guard Marcus Smart is reportedly “psyched” about accepting Team USA's training camp invitation on Monday, according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
Anthony Davis, James Harden, Bradley Beal, CJ McCollum, Eric Gordon, Tobias Harris and Zion Williamson have withdrawn from Team USA participation this summer. Team USA reached out to Smart to attend the training camp that will be used to select the 12-man roster for this year’s World Cup in China.
The Celtics guard loves to compete, so Smart is excited about this opportunity.

The Team USA training camp roster, as it stands, features Damian Lillard, Kevin Love, Andre Drummond, Kyle Kuzma, Kyle Lowry, Khris Middleton, Paul Millsap, Donovan Mitchell, Jayson Tatum, Myles Turner, P.J. Tucker, Kemba Walker and Harrison Barnes.
This past season for the Celtics, Marcus Smart averaged 8.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 42.2 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 80.6 percent from the free-throw line.
Smart could join his Celtics teammates in Tatum, Walker and possibly Jaylen Brown at the training camp. Brown, like Smart, has been invited to the training camp, but he is yet to accept the invitation.
The FIBA World Cup is scheduled to start on August 31 and will run until mid-September.
