After the draft lottery, Boston Celtics fans were ecstatic about the possibility of adding consensus top pick Markelle Fultz to their team’s lineup. The prospect of seeing him playing alongside franchise player, Isaiah Thomas, was enough for them to get over their Eastern Conference Finals exit quickly and remain positive about their future.

However, when Danny Ainge and company decided to trade the pick to the Philadelphia 76ers, many were left surprised and disappointed.

For the fans who got ahead of themselves and ordered custom-made Fultz Celtics jersey, they had no choice but to burn them as Fultz will no longer be seen wearing them, and will don the Sixers’ colors instead.

As it turned out, the Boston will now select third overall in the draft, and are likely to tap either former Kansas forward Josh Jackson or Duke product Jayson Tatum to shore up their frontline. The few days before June 22nd are expected to be busy ones for the team as they will scrutinize more prospects.

If there’s anything fans can learn from this, it’s not a bad idea to wait for a player to be drafted first before even thinking of having custom jerseys made. Not only did it cost them money, but also plenty of disappointment.
