The 2022 NBA free agency period started off with a bombshell from Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant. After weeks of speculation, the former MVP has announced his intentions to be traded from the team. The news comes at the heels of Kyrie Irving's decision to stay with the team by picking up his player option.

The Nets star's shocking request sent shockwaves around the world, not just in the basketball community. The fine folks over at AEW decided to try and poke a little fun at Kevin Durant's trade request. A few hours after his intentions was announced, the AEW Twitter account asked KD if he wanted to try his hand at pro wrestling. They even made one of those “All Elite” graphics that they tweet when they sign a new guy!

That caption was the final nail in the coffin for the Nets star. It's no secret that Durant wants to win championships. He has shown before that he's willing to do anything for a chance at greatness, even if it means being ridiculed by fans.

We gotta admit, though… it's a bit hilarious to imagine Kevin Durant going up against veteran AEW stars in the squared circle. Imagine the memes if the Nets star was slated to go up against the likes of Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, or MJF. It'd be even funnier if Durant cut a promo against one of these stars. It would definitely be the best day on NBA Twitter.

Alas, that's never going to happen. Still, though, if Durant does want to write a brand-new chapter… the AEW has it's arms open for him.
