For NBA analysts Shannon Sharpe, the Brooklyn Nets could use the services of Carmelo Anthony — especially his shooting.
Per Fox Sports, Sharpe believes that the Nets can fully utilize Anthony only if they define his role first. They have to be completely aware that Anthony is already at the tail end of his career. But unlike most players, he can still be an effective scorer.
“The Nets could probably use some of Carmelo's scoring. He can't come in thinking he's the Nuggets Carmelo or the Knicks Carmelo. He's no longer Melo; he's Carmelo Anthony. That guy plays a role. Melo could dominate a game.”

With less than a month before training camp, Anthony — a 10-time All-Star and former scoring champion — is still in search for a team. In a tell-all interview with Stephen A. Smith, Anthony revealed that he and his camp have reached out to several teams.
At this point in his career, he's well aware that he's not the Anthony of old who can be the focal point of a team. But he also pointed out that he wants his role to be clearly defined so he can manage his expectations.
Apart from the Nets, the Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned in rumors involving Anthony. But based on various reports, it seems that the Nets are the only ones really interested in getting the former All-Star. Will this deal come into fruition? Or will Anthony be forced to finally hang it up for good?
