The future of Ben Simmons with the Brooklyn Nets is now in the balance after the former Sixers star ended up missing the entire 2021-22 season due to a lingering back injury. As it turns out, however, the Nets might not have any other choice but to keep Simmons in Brooklyn for next season.

At the moment, the interest opposing teams have in Ben Simmons with regard to a possible trade has diminished significantly. According to NBA insider Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer, the Nets star's market value is currently at an all-time low:

Teams were reluctant to make strong offers to Philadelphia for Simmons before the deadline, and now there’s even more confusion about his condition. I spoke with a trusted source from a non-playoff team that was previously attracted to Simmons who told me they’re out on him.

“We’re at the point we’d want to see him play first,” said the source.

This is not surprising at all considering how Simmons' 2021-22 season went. After forcing his exit from the Sixers, Simmons did not even play a single minute for the Nets this season. Even when he was on the brink of making his debut in Monday's season-ending loss to the Celtics, the former Rookie of the Year ended up in street clothes yet again.

With so much uncertainty surrounding this young man, it's no surprise that teams from around the league are reluctant to take such a huge risk on him.
