While latest rumors indicate that the Brooklyn Nets are open to trading James Harden for Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons, it doesn't mean they are desperate in doing it before the trade deadline.

Sure, the Nets have reportedly increased their efforts and could be leaning towards making a deal amid their recent slump, but Shams Charania of The Athletic noted that Brooklyn remains confident that they have the necessary tools to compete for a championship even if they don't make a deal.

Still, there’s no urgency for Nets officials, who have had the steadfast belief that the current core, as is, has the means necessary for a championship. However, it’s believed that an opening exists should an offer elevate the team and make the roster more well-rounded as the franchise pursues a championship.

After topping the East earlier in the season, the Nets have now fallen to sixth with a 29-22 record. Of course that is due to the fact that Kevin Durant is currently sidelined with an injury while Kyrie Irving continues to be a part-time player, so there is really no reason to hit the panic button just yet.

However, it is easy to understand the Nets' position when it comes to a trade. While they are willing to move James Harden amid “growing concerns” with regards to his playing style, they won't simply do it just to part ways with him. Simply put, they want someone who can only improve their championship aspirations.

It remains to be seen what the Nets will do with Harden and some of their tradeable assets, but it sure looks like they will be active in trade talks–whether that leads to a deal or not.
